Why and how to recycle?

Each Romanian produces an average of nearly 400 kg of waste per year. Find out below the impact of recycling and the correct rules for a cleaner future.

Plastic and PET

From 10 recycled PET bottles, a t-shirt is made. Plastic left in nature takes 500 years to decompose and kills over 1 million marine creatures annually.

Aluminum (100% recyclable)

A single recycled can saves enough energy to power a TV for 3 hours.

Paper and Cardboard

One ton of recycled paper saves 15 mature trees and generates 70% less pollution than production from new raw material.

Glass

It can be recycled indefinitely without losing quality. In nature, it takes 1 million years to decompose.

Electronics (WEEE)

Batteries contain toxic metals. From 1 million recycled phones, 24 kg of gold and 9 tons of copper are recovered.

Used Oil

A single liter of used oil poured down the drain can contaminate 1 million liters of water and destroy sewage treatment plants.

You must empty the contents of recyclable containers, wash them, and press them before leaving them at collection points. Respect the colors of the containers to avoid contaminating the waste!
